JUST ANOTHER ROLEPLAYING SYSTEM!

JARS, otherwise known as Just Another Roleplaying System- is just that. It's a rules-lite framework that is attempting to bring together elements of 90's trad games, modern story-driven works such as PbTA framework games, with a HINT of the NSR. Effectively, it's a homebrewed system that's trying to be everything I need it to be for the kind of games I want to write.

JARS is intended to be a framework, it's Creative Commons so all of it's parts can be pulled apart, thrown away, and rebuilt. The core of it is it's IDENTITY/TRAIT character creation- instead of a class from a list, you write down who your character is and what they can do- then apply THAT to a 2d6 roll.

My intent when writing this system was to use it as a framework to write weird investigation procedurals, superhero games, and more. I'm sure it can do more with some work.

It's a system that I consider a semi-culmination of the last year or two of my games. It's mean, it's lean, but it needs some polish and air time before I'm ready to call it finished. Figure the most I can do is let it out into the world and see how people like it!

As well, I'll be periodically dropping "modules" - different chunks of content that contain extra rules, different ways to play, stuff like that. Eventually, the plan is to fold it all into the main rules of the system itself, but for now it'll be optional.

REVIEWS

"JARS just works. There's a throughline in Roxanne's previous work that says different schools of RPG design are, deep down, speaking one lingua franca. JARS is short, sweet, and wants to teach you how to speak that language, too."

- B. Everett Dutton, CLAYMORE Roleplaying Games

I want to translate this into Brazilian Portuguese.

it's creative commons, so go ahead! all you'd need to do is leave a link to the original work and share it under the same CC-BY-SA-4.0 license!

Obrigado, estarei seguindo com as regras e farei meu melhor para traduzi-lo.

I am very much enjoying Roxanne B’s output. She always has cool and interesting ideas for her ultra-lite rules sets, and I’m excited to see her iterating and refining her work. I can’t wait to see what she does next.

Really glad to see this designer revisiting their projects and streamlining the work into an SRD. This is well organized and easy to understand.
